I'm a fairly new DMC fan, in fact I used to be obsessed with Devil Trigger before I played the games. God, the transition starting from the loading screen, to the mission start meny, to the cutscene, to the actual fight to the Devil Trigger Remix. They kinda made up for it with Mission 20's Vergil vs Nero though. It wasn't nearly as iconic as DMC3's mission 7. While most of the cutscene to boss fight music transition is godly, they messed up on Vergil vs Dante. In fact in some ways it did better but boy do I wish some of its presentation was better. I'm not gonna say its inferior to DMC3 and 4 at all. And how could you appreciate/notice the subtle themes when the game kept screaming BANG BANG BANG PULL MY DEVIL TRIGGER even in the goddamn gallery? It doesn't leave enough time for you to appreciate it. The problem with DMC5 is the game is only 20 missions divided unevenly between three characters. Urizen is always associated with piano music.ĭevil Trigger from that point onwards only plays again when Nero goes to the spotlight once more fighting Vergil. Once again the shaky piano music plays again. Notice that from that point onwards, the character themes don't play AT ALL. However, when Dante sees the family frame and realizes Sparda gave him the Rebellion for a reason, he clarifies his doubts and rage and he fully realizes his perfect demon form: SDT.

Thats reason why he allows himself to age despite being semi-immortal. Dante always hated being way too demonic.

He also feels annoyed he needs to go full power demonic again. He also feels angry why he needs to beat him again for the 3rd time(4th time if Gilver is canon and Vergil really is Gilver). He's afraid he might need to kill Vergil again. For example, Subhuman plays for Dante the whole time he was readying himself to confront Vergil. There's also subtler themes going in the music. It also doesn't help that the pace of DMC5 doesnt match the pace that it changes its music.

How can you remember these really awesome leitmotifs when the game keeps on repeating "BANG BANG BANG" theme over and over? Theres like 5 different remixes of Devil Trigger in the game. Its like matter of different strengths and different weaknesses.ĭMC5 kinda overused DT as its leitmotif to the point that the subtler leitmotifs in Legacy, Urizen, Vergil's violin opening and Dante's SDT scene gets overshadowed.
